Manjot studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto graduating in April 2019. His Engineering interests are renewable energy, sustainable development, and mechatronics. A few of his personal interests stem from being a curious person by nature - they include Astronomy, Ancient History, and Oceanography. In his downtime he enjoys watching movies, and staying active by working out.

Mechanical Designer
Tomek holds a B.A.Sc. in Aerospace and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Toronto and gained his Professional Engineer designation in 2010. Through 20 years of working in leading global architecture and engineering practices, Tomek honed his particular blend of highly practical and efficient engineering solutions with the creative synthetic design thinking of a designer. Outside of work, Tomek enjoys cycling, running, yoga, and surfing (when he can).
Tomek Bartczak, PEng
Founder & CEO
Savo graduated with a B.A.Sc. In Mechanical Engineering focusing on mechatronics at the University of Toronto and returned to complete a M.Eng. In Electrical Engineering focusing on digital system and integrated circuit design. Drawing on experience in home automation, developing prototype vehicles, and custom integrated circuit testing: he is always looking to exercise creativity and skill in embedded systems design in any domain.

Electrical Designer
Monica holds a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.Eng degree in Aerospace from the University of Toronto. Monica has a variety of past work experience to draw upon in her role at EDL, ranging from supply chain automation to food safe robotics. In her spare time, Monica enjoys tackling complex baking recipes, horseback riding, and skiing.
Monica Burgers, MEng, EIT, Mechanical Designer
Zhe earned the PhD degree from the University of Toronto in 2023 for his research on electric vehicle battery management systems. He has participated in the design and implementation of four roadworthy prototype electric vehicles, including two solar-powered racing cars and one electric retrofit. He has contributed to 14 peer-reviewed papers, and authored one granted and one pending patent, all in the field of electric vehicle battery systems methods, manufacturing, and prototyping

Matthew has a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Queensland, and a Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering also from the University of Queensland. Matthew lives in Brisbane Australia, and cut his teeth in design engineering by building solar cars, electric bicycles and all sorts of human and electric-powered vehicles and devices. Matthew has been working with Engineering Design Lab as a consultant since it’s inception and is often brought in to help solve particularly difficult multi-disciplinary problems. When not working, Matthew enjoys cooking up tasty dishes, mountain biking, surfing and playing with his daughter.

Jeremy is an Engineering student working towards his B.A.Sc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto. Engineering interests include mechatronics, manufacturing, and rapid prototyping, fields which have driven him to pursue many different interdisciplinary projects. From designing and prototyping his own electric skateboard to the production and testing of high speed bicycles, Jeremy likes to utilize engineering concepts in real world, practical applications. Outside of work, he enjoys endurance cycling, street photography, and music production.

Gabriel graduated in Automotive (Mechanical) Engineering in 1983 and has been involved in multiple activities as R&D, projects conception and management, design, engineering, prototyping, testing, homologation, manufacturing. He has worked in Europe, Asia and North America, for innovative projects as light vehicles, road and racing cars, commercial vehicles or their components and systems. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer and owner of the consulting business “Iosif Automotive Engineering” registered in Toronto
Gabriel Iosif, PhD, P.Eng

Andrew graduated with a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2019.
While there, he built a distributed computing system to run fluid dynamics simulations for the Blue Sky Solar Racing team. He enjoys hands-on problem solving and designing and implementing systems that are robust, elegant and scalable. Outside of work Andrew enjoys fresh air and sunshine: cycling, hiking kayaking and canoeing. He also dabbles in woodworking and plays the violin.

Electrical Designer
Calvin Moes completed his doctorate in Materials Engineering at the University of Toronto in the summer of 2022. With an extensive background in multidisciplinary design projects, Calvin has a wide variety of experience in mechanical design, CAD, FEA, CFD, electronics and instrumentation, optimization methods, manufacturing, and prototyping. In his spare time, Calvin pursues a variety of skill-intensive hobbies including mountaineering, ice climbing, scuba diving, and racing prototype high-speed bicycles. Calvin volunteers as a director on the board of one of Canada's largest student housing co-operatives.

Thomas completed his Bachelor of Industrial Design from Carleton University in 2023, where he designed a Solar-EVTOL aircraft for his capstone project, winning awards at ACIDO's Annual rocket competition. During his education he participated in several successful design teams, that covered topics from rides and theme parks to electric vehicles for users with physical disabilities. During covid he used the extra time to complete his pilot license, He is passionate about aviation, sailing, skiing, making music, and indie filmmaking. https://www.tomwiwchar.com/

Jaden is working towards a B.A.Sc. in Robotics Engineering with the University of Toronto's Division of Engineering Science. His engineering interests include robotics, mechatronics, digital systems, and sustainable development. With the University of Toronto, Jaden is involved in the design of wearable medical devices and high-speed prototype bicycles. Outside of work, Jaden enjoys the thrill and adventure of downhill mountain biking, outdoor rock climbing, and backcountry skiing.
